While visiting Novalja, try not to skip tasting a part of unique harmony of local cuisine. From the menu of beautifully decorated restaurants, we recommend some of the famous and widely-known specialties – Pag cheese, lamb, macaroni on sticks and cottage cheese strudel. All the delights of Mediterranean cuisine, however, are best tasted if you also decide for some of the seafood specialties.
Among the various fish and seafood dishes, we recommend a bracing fish soup, Novalja’s brodit (brudet), various salads and seafood risotto and boiled or roasted fish. For vegetarian cuisine lovers it would be a pleasure to try provided varied vegetables grown under the warm Mediterranean sunshine, prepared in imaginative ways.
